Electric Weed Eater Reviews

Over the past few days I have read a ton of electric weed eater reviews while trying to find the best one for my lawn. The problem I have seen with most of these electric string trimmers is that they don't seem to last vary long on a single charge. Most people complain of not having enough battery life to do their entire yard. During my research I found that the average electric string trimmer could last anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes on a single charge.
This was a great article on Electric Weed Eaters. If you are thinking about buying an electric weed eater you might want to read the entire article. One thing this author points out more than once is that you should be thinking about how long your battery will last on a full charge now and after several charges.
Everone knows when you charge a rechargable battery selveral 100 times it starts to lose it's ablity to maintain a charge. This means you may need to buy a replacement battery in the future. By reading reading reviews on amazon.com you can see other customer's reviews of how batteries stood up over time.
I have read 100s of reviews on Amazon of several different electric weed eaters and the one that seems to be best is the exact one that this author recommends. Check out the GreenWorks Electric String Trimmer Review

Greenworks 20-Volt Lithium Ion 12-Inch Cordless Electric String Trimmer/Edger Review

I was waiting to see whether anyone reviewed this new trimmer before buying it, but decided I couldn't wait any longer and took the plunge. It replaced a terrible corded trimmer that I had to take apart every few minutes to fix the string. The Greenworks with Lithium Ion battery works beautifully. The battery was still at fairly high capacity after about 45 minutes of trimming. Out of the box, the trimmer makes a good impression. It's solidly built. The instruction manual isn't very good (lots of repetition in the safety warnings and poorly written assembly instructions), but assembly and operation were easy to figure out anyway. I was concerned that the trimmer would feel heavy with the battery attached, but that wasn't a problem at all. Switching from trimming to edging is a snap. I love the automatic advancement of the string (especially after my old nightmare of a trimmer). The manual warns the user to keep an eye on the string after turning off to make sure that it hasn't receded too far, but so far that hasn't been a problem. I was worried that the trimmer wouldn't seem very powerful, but it had plenty of power for my needs. I have a large garden with a lot of edges to trim. No problem with the Greenworks!
Four months later (August 2010) and I still love it. I just ran out of the string on the first spool. Changing it was easy. I dropped the battery on the hard pavement and was worried I had ruined it, but there seems to be no problem--I just spent 45 minutes edging my garden and the battery still works great. I also bought the blower that uses the same battery--another great purchase!
After reading some rather poor reviews on other electric weed wackers I was pleased to see this review for the Greenworks Cordless Electric String Trimmer. One of the problems many people have with cordless electric trimmers is that their batteries tend to be short lived and after several charges they seem to last even less time running. If you read the full review you'll see that the poster came back four months latter to post more about the Greenworks Trimmer. He says that the battery is still going strong and it's lasting longer than 45min! If you have done your research on cordless electric string trimmers you'll know that is amazing run time and even after four months use!
Other reviews were similar to this one. It is rare that you find this many positive reviews on an electric weed eater. The overall use also is rated well. Typical of an electric trimmer it is lightweight, low noise, and much easier on the body for long trimming sessions. These are all things you want to consider before wasting your money on a trimmer that simply isn't meant to do the job you want it to do. - Weed Eater Weed Wacker Reviews

Husqvarna 128DJx 17-Inch 28cc 2-Stroke Gas Powered Straight Shaft String Trimmer Review

I purchased the Husqvarna 128DJx a few days ago. Got it over night. Went right to work with it. Very pleased with it. Only took a few minutes to put together. Added gas, two pulls and it started right up. After 20 to 30 minutes it started to bog down a little. I closed the choke about a 1/4 closed and it was fine. Ran like a champ. I think the factory is setting the carburetor to lean. It should be set richer. Especially when it's new. As for the trimmer itself. I can't find one thing wrong with it. It cut for over an hour. Some weeds were over an inch thick and I had no problems. One more thing. I was going to get a four stroke. (oil in the crank case) for the people that don't know this. I've been told that the 4 stroke engines use a lot more gas. I decided to get the 2 stroke. I very glad I did. It's very efficient on gas. Ran full throttle for over an hour on 3/4 tank of gas. If your looking for a real stout well built weed eater then this one will do you good. Thanks and good luck.
This review of the Husqvarna 128D 28cc String Trimmer / Brush Cutter was spot on. I wasn't surprised at all to see that most people using this weed wacker are using it to clear large areas for long periods of time.
The really amazing thing about this review is that the brush size cleared wad up to an inch thick in some places. That just goes to show you how the Husqvarna power weed eater will help you trim areas quickly and efficiently.
Take note of the sale price from Amazon on this string trimmer! Under $250! The strange thing we see so often with weed wackers is that price really does reflect the quality but your quality increase x3 for every dollar you spend it seems. Take a cheap string trimmer under $100 and now look at this Husqvarna. Your getting 10 times them machine for less then 3x the cost.
Even if you don't plan on using this grass trimmer for brush cutting think about how long the Husqvarna will stand up for! It is sure to out live any cheap 20cc engine for years and it is also important to note that this model can be used for commercial use. It packs that much power! Husquvarna Trimmer Review

Tanaka 21.1cc 2-Stroke Gas Powered Straight Shaft Grass Trimmer Brush Cutter Review

I had been looking at string trimmers for a couple of months. My old craftsman (circa 1988) finally gave up the ghost. But everything I saw in the big box stores (the blue one and the orange one) looked cheap and flimsy in my price range (less than $200). So I decided to look around online and see what was available even if I needed to pay a bit extra for quality. I had heard about Tanaka but never considered it because my only contact was with a commercial lawn service that used their equipment. So I was looking mainly at Toro and Stihl hoping for a deal out there. A search on Amazon led to this Tanaka unit. There was very little information on the internet about it since it's brand new.
So how does it perform? Unbelievable! Power, power, power. The heavy brush on the lower part of our lot that I had been avoiding because of the sickly Craftsman met it's match and went down without a fight. The engine is very smooth with little vibration. It seems to be comfortable for a while (20 minutes or so) but I'm thinking about a sling. The straight shaft puts the cutter head right where you need it. It started right up with a a few pumps of the primer bulb and then restarted on an easy half pull of the starter rope. There was a little assembly required (mounting the cutter and the handle) but Tanaka even included the tools to put it together.
I wasn't surprised to come across this review of the Tanaka 21.1cc 2-Stroke Weed Wacker. I keep hearing great things about this weed trimmer. When it comes down to any trimmer most of the specs are going to be the same. You'll want something around 20ccs for home use and something a bit more powerful and more commercial for any larger areas but some weed eaters just preform overly well for their statistics and this is one of them.
I can already tell you that this is one of the top rated weed wackers on Amazon and is relatively new. It has received some amazing feedback and most of it is saying this is one of the best weed wackers on the market.
I have looked at dozens of weed wackers and we are starting to see a trend in the market. If you want a cheap throw away grass trimmer try one of those $99 electric grass trimmers. They work great for a few years but eventually will need a new battery. With the Tanaka 21.1cc 2-stroke grass trimmer you can forget all of that. This will be one piece of equipment you can expect to last even with larger yard sizes.
One other thing worthy of some serious mention with this string trimmer is that it is also advertised as a brush cutter. Most home use string trimmers do not have the power to be considered a brush cutter as well as a grass trimmer. Even if you aren't looking to do any heavy duty brush cutting with your grass trimmer it still says something about the power and quality of the Tanaka! Weed Wacker Reviews

Hitachi 21.1cc 2 Stroke Gas Powered Straight Shaft Grass Trimmer Review

Whether you're cutting back grass, weeds, or brush, a trimmer can only perform as well as the engine behind it. This Hitachi trimmer's 21 cc commercial-grade engine features PureFire low-emission two-stroke technology. Fewer fumes mean safer operation and less environmental impact. This design makes the trimmer CARB Tier III compliant for use in California.

If you are looking for a good, long lasting, all around quality trimmer the this Hitachi 21.1cc 2 Stroke Gas Powered Straight Shaft Trimmer is for you! One of the highest rated gas string trimmers on Amazon.

This yard ready string trimmer is great for small yards but can also handle some of the more heavy duty weed wacking on larger properties. If you are looking for something in between an electric model and a high end commercial gas model this string trimmer is right for you!

As with most string trimmers now days this Hitachi comes with a form of starting technology which makes it easier to start with a cold engine. Among some of the many perks listed one I particularly like, being a women, is that it is lightweight and designed with anti-vibration technology.

Handling large equipment for long periods of time can be a strain on your body. Many gas powered straight shaft string trimmers are much to difficult for some people to use realistically. The neat thing about this Hitachi is it actually weighs less then 10lbs. You won't find that in a commercial trimmer.

Black & Decker Grass Hog 12-Inch 18-Volt Cordless Electric String Trimmer Review

"The Grass Hog trimmer/edger combines two tools in one to make lawn and garden care more convenient. Use the tool's edger function to add borders to your pathways and flower beds, which helps to fight weeds and define the areas in your yard. Flip the head back over to a trimming tool to clip grass around delicate plants or in tight corners, giving your grounds a clean, manicured look. The large, 12-inch cut path makes it possible to complete your yard work in less time." -via amazon.com

I have been reviewing a ton of these cordless electric trimmers recently. I really have to say that this black & decker cordless electric string trimmer is one of the best on the market and it's Amazon user rating shows it!
One of the most handy features on this model of string trimmer is that it also doubles as an edging tool. This seems to be a new feature more companies are adding to their string trimmers. Many trimmers need no attachments to switch from string trimmer to edger.

Another thing specific to this trimmer offer is that it includes two batteries. This means that the company actually intends you on using it for long periods of time which wasn't previously seen in electric weed wackers.
I would definitely take a look at the Black and Decker Grass Hog 12-Inch Cordless electric string trimmer. It has a large cover area and battery life. Not to mention it is one of the least expensive electric trimmers on the market. That's saying a lot for a piece of equipment that does two jobs!
